Expectations
Grading
I will adhere to the Irving ISD Grading Policy.
1. Minor (homework, quizzes, vocabulary, etc.) 40%
2. Major (tests, projects, notebook) 60%
Assignments
• It is your responsibility to get any missed assignment sheets from the “HANDOUTS” file storage drawer.
• It is also your responsibility to keep track of cutting and gluing appropriate papers on your notebook.
• NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Expectations
- Be on time. No restroom during the first & last 10 minutes of the class period.
- Start working as soon as you enter the classroom. The daily instructions will be on the board.
- No phones, i-pads, i-pods, headphones, earphones or other electronic equipment are allowed. (phone policy will be covered in detail on the first day of school)
- Cleaning is highly important. Be sure to check if your desk and lab areas are clean and neat before you leave. (***DEDUCTION of points if you do not follow***)
- Safety matters in Chemistry classroom. No running, hitting, and playing around.
- Use finger signs (1,2,3,4) when you have a question, need to go to bathroom and need my attention. Look around to find a finger sign board for more information.
- Please be respectful each other. Love each other. We are all precious ones to someone even though you do not think so. Respect your teachers and love your friends.
Grading

Assignments
- All assignments are due at the beginning of the period (when the tardy bell rings).
- Work must be done in pencil, blue/black ink.
- Please write legibly. I cannot grade what I cannot read.
- Failure to follow these guidelines will result in a lowered grade.
- SHOW ALL WORK ON ASSIGNMENTS! NO WORK= NO GRADE.
- Make up Assignments
• It is your responsibility to get any missed assignment sheets from the “HANDOUTS” file storage drawer.
• It is also your responsibility to keep track of cutting and gluing appropriate papers on your notebook.
• NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Lab work
- Labs will be conducted throughout the semester and will require formal lab reports. Instructions will be given for proper format. I will not grade labs that are not in the composition notebook.
- Missed lab assignments will require students to complete an alternative assignment that will include the concepts that were covered.
- A student may retake a failed test (<70). You must attend tutoring sessions in order to retest.
- The restest may be an alternative short answer exam that covers the same topics.
Absences/ Tardies
- I will adhere to the tardy policy as outlined in your Student Handbook.
- YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ANY MISSING ASSIGNMENTS/INFORMATION (NOTES) FOR ANY ABSENCES YOU INCUR.
- All make-up work must be handed into me.
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday - 8:00 AM – 8:40 AM Monday and Wednesday- 4:20 – 5:00 PM
